In Key Stage 2, we offer a rich and well-rounded academic programme that builds strong foundations while nurturing confident and independent learners. Following the Pearson Edexcel framework from Foundation Stage through to Grade 12, our curriculum ensures continuity, rigour and clear progression across all subjects.
Our students engage in a broad and balanced range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Arabic, Religion, ICT, Pastoral Care, Physical Education, Music and Drama. From Grade 4 onwards, students also study Social Studies, further strengthening their understanding of the world around them and their place within it.
At the heart of our classrooms is a student-centred approach where teachers act as facilitators of learning. Lessons are highly interactive, encouraging discussion, collaboration and active participation. Through carefully planned lessons, students are guided to think critically, solve problems and express their ideas with confidence. Technology plays a key role across subjects, with ICT both taught as a subject and integrated into daily learning to enhance research, creativity and digital literacy.
We place strong emphasis on differentiation, ensuring that every child is both supported and challenged. Lessons are designed to meet the needs of all learners through structured group work, guided support and extension opportunities. High-achieving students are encouraged to extend their thinking through internal, inter-school and international competitions, while students who require additional support benefit from targeted interventions and specialised guidance from our Learning Support Department, particularly in Mathematics and Science.
Assessment in KS2 is both continuous and purposeful. Students are evaluated through a combination of formative and summative assessments as well as graded projects. While most assessments are seamlessly integrated into daily learning, students in Grades 5 and 6 are also gradually prepared for more formal assessment settings. Progress is carefully tracked and outcomes are shared promptly with parents through our school management system, B12, ensuring transparency and clear communication.
In Grade 6, students are further prepared for the Pearson Edexcel external examinations. Our experienced teachers provide structured preparation, including targeted revision and additional online support sessions for students who need reinforcement, ensuring every child is equipped for success.
A strong culture of reading and literacy underpins all areas of learning. Through platforms such as Bug Club, IXL, CENTURY Tech and ActiveLearn, students develop comprehension skills, vocabulary and a genuine love for reading. These are further enriched through events such as Literacy Week, alongside dedicated writing and comprehension activities across the curriculum.
Beyond the classroom, we believe that academics should be experienced, celebrated and brought to life. Each year, students explore a country through Humanities, culminating in three key events: a Country Overview project, a Learning Display where parents are invited to experience student learning firsthand and a vibrant cultural festival. These experiences allow students to connect knowledge with real-world contexts while developing presentation, research and communication skills.
Our academic programme is further enriched through events such as Maths Week, Science Week and participation in prestigious competitions including the International Mathematics Challenge (IMC), International Maths Day and IST competitions.
At the same time, we recognise and celebrate student talent across a wider spectrum. Through Drama, students develop confidence, expression and communication skills, often showcased in performances and learning displays. In Physical Education, students are given opportunities to participate in a range of competitive sports, representing the school in both internal and inter-school events. A highlight of this year was our “Hall of Fame”, a dedicated event celebrating talented students across different fields where students had the opportunity to perform, compete and be recognised for their achievements in front of a wider audience.
Equally important is our commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. Students actively participate in meaningful initiatives such as the Winter Drive, supporting those in need, and Ramadan community activities that foster empathy and generosity. Environmental awareness is also a key focus, with students engaging in events such as World Water Day and Recycling Month, where they learn about sustainability and responsible citizenship. We also place strong emphasis on student wellbeing through initiatives such as Mental Wellness Month, where students explore strategies to support their emotional health and build resilience. These experiences help students develop a strong sense of purpose, compassion and global awareness alongside their academic growth.
By the end of Key Stage 2, our students are not only academically prepared but also confident, reflective and capable learners, ready to transition successfully into the next stage of their educational journey.
